Best Practices

Basic Tournament Setup

  • Use clear, descriptive names that include key details like buy-in or format

  • Select payout and level structures before configuring other options

  • Ensure correct date/times are selected for each event

  • Configure house/service fee splits to match your internal standards

Advanced Configuration Tips

  • For bounty tournaments, set the bounty amount and verify it's included in entry fee calculations

    • Bounty amount will be added in addition to other buy-in options. Meaning if your buy-in is $75 and your bounty is $25, your total buy-in will be $100.

  • Use multi-day configuration for tournaments with multiple starting flights

  • Lock player seats to align with internal tournament seating procedures i.e., We always start our tournaments with 7max players on each table, so we always lock the 3, 7, and 10 seats.

  • Configure purchase settings to match tournament format (re-entry, freezeout, rebuy, etc.)

Configuration Planning

  • Tournaments can be copied so keep that in mind if you are running the same tournament every Monday night, you can just copy the original, change the header (if needed), and update the date and time details.

  • Configure multi-day events with consistent naming across all flights and ensure they are all pointing to the same desired Main Event

  • Test new tournament formats internally to ensure everything runs smoothly and as expected

Common Questions

What's the difference between House Fee and Service Fee?

House Fee typically represents the portion retained by the venue, while Service Fee often represents staff tokes or dealer compensation but ultimately there is no difference in how they work. You can use those two fields to collect any necessary fees for your events.

Do I need to set up all tables in advance?

No, you can add all, some, or no tables during initial setup or add tables later during registration or a combination of both.

How do I handle satellite events?

Enable Multi-Day Configuration, select the appropriate Event Type, and configure the Vouchers Awarded For field to connect to the target main event.

When should I use the Advanced Deductions option?

Use this for special fee configurations like promotional fund contributions, jackpot fees, or custom charge structures that go beyond the standard house/service fee split. Test advanced deductions with internal test only events in system to ensure accuracy as expected.
